- I was born in Guernsey, Channel Islands. It is a very special island. I moved to the UK to study at a college, spent some time living in Brazil, met my husband whilst in Texas for a time then moved to France to the magical Minervois and married in the village where we lived for 6 priveleged years. Along the way I acquired my fur babes, 3 abandoned kitties. I moved north to Southern Brittany, Morbihan region in Nov 2008. This is my cathartic blog re the move and my new surroundings!

Did you know the name of the flag is "Gwenn ha du"? It literally means "blanc et noir", or white & black in Breton. And even though it's so well-known, it's actually only been around for 70 or 80 years. It was inspired by the American flag, with each of the 9 stripes representing the old dioceses of Bretagne. I can't remember anymore what the hermines are supposed to represent though....
